10. The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature, August 18th
What it’s about: The park animals band together to stop the mayor from bulldozing Liberty Park and turning it into an amusement park.
Why your kid will want to see it: They yukked their way through the first one.
Why you might want to see it: It’s pretty hot in August and movie theaters have air conditioning. (Will Arnett, Maya Rudolph, and Jackie Chan also do voices.)
11. Blazing Samurai, August 25th
What it’s about: A dog named Hank (played by Michael Cera) dreams of becoming a samurai and saving his town from a feline warlord (Ricky Gervais).
Why your kid will want to see it: It’s a silly comedy with a definite Kung Fu Panda vibe to it.
Why you might want to see it: The movie was not only inspired by Mel Brooks’ comedy classic, Blazing Saddles, but Brooks co-produced the movie and voiced one of the characters.
12.My Little Pony: The Movie, October 6th
What it’s about: When Ponyville is threatened, the “Mane Six” team up and journey to the end of Equestria to save it.
Why your kid will want to see it: It’s MLP. If your kid has pony-fever there will be no holding them back.
Why you might want to see it: You loved old school MLP and can hang with the new version too.
